Our vision and values

MD Law’s vision for the future having gone through a huge restructure during the past five years, is to continue looking for individuals from all areas of disciplines so we can continue to offer our clients an excellent range of services. We work closely with external consultants also and encourage applications from experienced fee earning through to administration staff.

We are a diverse law firm specialising mainly in services for the individual. We have our traditional Conveyancing Departments in both our Whitchurch and North Road offices and we also have our NEW Beddau Meeting Rooms.

We work closely with the community both locally and nationally, however we strive to provide a unique personal service and endeavour to use an empathetic approach to our clients needs and requirements. We value our clients and their instructions and we consider we are a friendly law firm who will also try to go the ‘extra mile’ to help clients quite often going through difficult periods of their lives.

It is not uncommon for clients to call in to provide us with updates in their matters, we regularly ‘pop the kettle on’ and that’s exactly what we thrive to offer a friendly legal service where the client is seen as a person where we will accommodate their set of circumstances as friendly and as professionally as we can.

Your feedback is equally as important to us, which is why we have set up our client care charter which invites our clients to comment on the services received from us. We will always do our best to provide the best possible legal services to our clients.

Should I make a Will?

Everyone needs a Will, to ensure your hard-earnt assets are protected where possible and go to the people or causes which you care the most about. Many people delay or have doubts about making a Will and around 180,000 people a year die intestate (without making a will).

Making a Will is not only for the elderly or unwell. Ensuring you have a Will can avoid significant problems for those you leave behind.

Parental Responsibilty

What is Parental Resopnsibility?

Parental Responsibility is defined as ‘all the rights, duties, powers, responsibilities and authority which by law a parent of a child has in relation to the child and his property’.

If you have parental responsibility you have the right to be consulted in key decisions about your child's upbringing, for example medical treatment and education.

It is solely for the interests of the child and not the parents. It does not give the parent who does not have day to day care of the child a right to interfere in routine daily issues.

What will happen to the housing market when lockdown restrictions begin to be lifted?

Updated: Friday 19th June

Following on from the First Ministers Conference today we are delighted to confirm that some restrictions have now been lifted to enable the housing sector to begin to open. Estate and Letting Agents are able to open, viewings can be carried out on vacant properties and the following reasons have been identified as a reasonable excuse to leave your local area or be indoors with someone else: -

  1. Move house;
  2. Prepare a property for someone to move in
  3. Visit an estate or letting agent, developer sales office or show home in connection with the purchase, sale or rental of an unoccupied property
  4. View an unoccupied property with a view to buying or renting it

The Assembly will provide detailed guidance in relation to moving shortly which will include recommendations about the thorough cleaning of properties.

However, for those stuck in chains where a Mortgage Company requires a physical valuation to be carried out there have been no suggestions that this will change on occupied properties imminently.

As a Firm, it has been decided that as we have worked so effectively over the last couple of weeks, to ensure the safety of our Employees and Clients we will continue to work from both the office and at home remotely, however we can be contacted throughout usual working hours as normal.
